MEMPHIS, TENN., April 26, 2023 – West Cancer Foundation, whose mission is to break through barriers to cancer care and improve patient outcomes, today announced that registration is open for West Fight On, scheduled for Saturday, September 9th, at Shelby Farms. West Fight On, presented by Sedgwick, is a walk, run, cycling event now in its 11th year. The event has raised a total of just under $1.5 million for West Cancer Foundation, including more than $550,000 for the 2022 event in which more than 1,300 people participated.
West Fight On features three different cycling routes, a 5K run/walk, and a one-mile tribute walk. Early bird registration fees start at $20.00 for the walk, $25.00 for the 5K, and $45.00 for cycling. This year’s event highlights cancer survivors and their caregivers with the theme One Love, One Heart, One Fight, inspired by Bob Marley’s song One Love. “We’ve seen this event grow over the years, even with the interruption of the pandemic, and we’re excited to see what this year brings,” said Leighanne Soden, West Cancer Foundation Executive Director. “What’s great about West Fight On is that anyone can participate, no matter their level of physical ability. We have everything from patients in active treatment, moms pushing baby strollers, and elite athletes who participate. It’s really wonderful to see the community come together to support the critically important services we’re able to provide cancer patients in Memphis.”
