“There’s a saying that I increasingly try to manifest in my life: ”The best things in life are not things.” So for my birthday in 2020, I knew I didn’t want more “things.” There are only so many scarves I can wear and so many bottles of perfume I can use. What’s more important is being able to share time with others and help others who are in need. I decided to ask friends who attended my virtual birthday party to donate to the West Foundation in lieu of any personal gift. Their donations were the best birthday gifts and enjoying time with them, although it was virtual, was one of my happiest birthdays. To be able to impact the lives of others, through donations to the Foundation, gave me so much joy.”
