The Power of Peer-to-Peer Fundraising

In the realm of charitable giving, there exists a unique and powerful method that harnesses the collective goodwill of communities: peer-to-peer fundraising. Unlike traditional fundraising efforts initiated solely by organizations, peer-to-peer fundraising puts the power directly into the hands of passionate individuals who champion causes close to their hearts. At West Cancer Foundation, we recognize the immense impact of this approach in not only raising funds but also in spreading awareness and fostering a sense of community. By registering for West Fight On, you too can get involved in peer-to-peer fundraising. Check out our tips on making a difference and scoring your exclusive event jersey and running singlet this year at West Fight On.

Celebrating Generosity: Bartlett Fire Department’s Impactful Donation to West Cancer Foundation

Thank you to Bartlett Fire Department for their continued support of West Cancer Foundation. Last month they presented the Foundation with a check for $2,000 that will directly benefit patient care and community outreach efforts. The funds were raised through their annual t-shirt sales and pancake breakfast last fall.

For years, the Bartlett Fire Department has been a steadfast partner in our fight against cancer. Their dedication to making a difference in the lives of those affected by this disease has been nothing short of inspiring. Through various fundraising initiatives, events, and community outreach programs, they have continuously raised awareness and funds to support our cause. Their commitment to raising more than $30,000 over the years speaks volumes about their passion and commitment to our shared mission.

Thank you for all you do for our community!

New Research Suggests Honeybees Can Sniff Out Lung Cancer

Honeybees are often hailed as heroes for pollinating crops that feed the world. But bees may have another trick up their fuzzy sleeves: sniffing out cancer. Researchers at Michigan State University recently conducted an experiment to uncover if bees could detect lung cancer using their keen sense of smell. The team of researchers exposed bees’ antennae to different aerosolized mixtures: one that mimicked the compounds found in the breath of a lung cancer patient and another that represented the breath of a healthy person. In 93% of the cases, the bees were able to distinguish between the types of artificial breath. Although early in the research, these findings could, one day, open the door for doctors to use honeybees as diagnostic tools.
