West Cancer Foundation Launches Free Mental Health Counseling Program for
Cancer Patients and Their Caregivers
Going through cancer treatment is not only a physical battle, it’s also a mental and emotional one — and not just for cancer patients, but also for their caregivers. That’s why we are so proud to announce the launch of our new free mental health counseling program. The program provides mental health counseling by licensed therapists at no cost to cancer patients – including those undergoing active treatment and in recovery– as well as their caregivers. Those who may be experiencing mental health challenges and qualify financially will be eligible for six counseling sessions and potentially more.
At West Cancer Foundation, we understand that cancer’s challenges extend beyond the physical—emotional health and mental well-being are equally important. If you or someone you know are interested in mental health counseling, please click the button below to request additional information.
Make Someone Smile This Holiday Season
If you want to touch the hearts of those you love this holiday season, West Cancer Foundation makes it easy with its beautiful holiday card program. This year’s holiday card features the Tree of Life Mosaic by artist Kristi Duckworth which is featured at Memphis Cancer Survivors Park.
For a minimum donation of $10 per card, the Foundation will send these beautiful greeting cards to your list of friends and family, allowing you to honor them by supporting free cancer services for those in need in our community. Simply provide your mailing list and we’ll take care of the rest by personalizing and mailing each card for you. To order your holiday cards, please contact Keri Burnette. What better way to celebrate the joy of the season than to honor those you love by giving a helping hand to others?
Empowering the Next Generation of Oncology Nurses
West Cancer Foundation is proud to partner with the University of Tennessee (UT) Health Science Center College of Nursing and support its efforts to train the next generation of nurses specializing in cancer care.
This initiative aims to address the growing need for highly skilled oncology nurses who are passionate about providing exceptional care to cancer patients and their families. By investing in education and training, we are working together to enhance the future of cancer treatment and improve outcomes for those in our community.
Prostate Screenings Save Lives
Memphis Mayor Paul Young joined our favorite sports commentator and cancer survivor Jarvis Greer to help West Cancer Foundation launch its inaugural free prostate cancer screening/community health fair for men. We were also joined by State Representative G.A. Hardaway, who co-authored a recent bipartisan legislation that “will eliminate out-of-pocket costs for high-risk men being screened for prostate cancer”.
Dozens of men came to The Healing Center in November to get a simple PSA (prostate-specific antigen) blood test. A low PSA level is normal, but a high level could be caused by prostate cancer, an enlarged prostate or other prostate problems, or merely a simple infection. The blood test is simple and, like all cancer screenings, can save lives when cancer is detected early Thank you to our community partners—UTHSC, ShotRX, Everbloom Farmacy, Man2Man Support Group, and Amah Nutrition and Wellness—for helping make the event a success and giving these men peace of mind by staying on top of their health screenings.

Scientists Discover Hidden Ally in Fight Against Cancer
Immunotherapy has transformed cancer treatment by harnessing the immune system to fight the disease, providing new hope for cancers once deemed incurable. However, many cancers can evade immune attacks, leading to resistance against these treatments. Researchers have now identified a critical role for inflammatory monocytes—an immune cell type—in reactivating T cells to attack cancer cells within tumors. These findings position monocytes as a promising target to enhance immunotherapy with the potential to benefit patients battling cancers such as melanoma, lung, pancreatic and colorectal cancer.
Our Mission
West Cancer Foundation’s mission is to break through barriers to cancer care and improve patient outcomes by providing accessible patient resources, early detection and education, and community-based research.
