She to Sea Female Cycling Team to Ride More Than 500 Miles to Raise Money for West Cancer Foundation

MEMPHIS, TENN., February 11, 2025 – West Cancer Foundation, a Memphis-based nonprofit that provides free cancer services to those in need and funds research to improve cancer care,

today announced the She to Sea cycling event will occur March 22-26. The event, now in its fourth year, brings together 22 women who will cycle from Memphis to Seagrove Beach, Fla., to raise funds for West Cancer Foundation. The group of elite athletes will ride more than 500 miles over five days and arrive in Seagrove Beach on March 26.

She to Sea was started in 2022 by 10 female athletes who were looking for a way to give back and help those affected by cancer. The event has raised more than $300,000 for the fight against cancer.

“The She to Sea team has become more than just a ride and a team—it’s a family, a sisterhood,” said founding member Shelby Tucker. “The bonds we make throughout this journey are something no one can quite put into words. There is no way to go through this ride without becoming vulnerable and being stripped in all aspects—emotionally, spiritually, mentally and physically. We pick up each other in prayer, encouragement, or whatever is needed through the trials and the celebrations. It has been such an incredible experience to watch the team grow and donations for West Cancer Foundation increase every year. It’s our joy and honor to ride for those who are affected and for this much-needed nonprofit organization.”

She to Sea is presented by Pinnacle Financial Partners│Fountain Financial Group with additional sponsorship from H&M Company, Inc., Eisai, Nucor Vulcraft Steel Manufacturer and SuperLo Foods.

“We are always so amazed by what these women can achieve,” said West Cancer Foundation President Leighanne Soden. “The physical challenge is daunting, even for seasoned athletes. But it’s the passion and heart they have for helping cancer patients that is the real achievement. This isn’t just a five-day commitment for them. They train all year long to make this incredible trip happen in order to raise much needed funds that help those in need. Our Foundation and our community are better off because of their dedication.”

She to Sea cyclists will depart Memphis on Saturday, March 22, at 8:30 a.m. from the West Cancer Center located at 7945 Wolf River Boulevard in Germantown, Tenn. The team will ride more than 100 miles per day and the route will take them and their support crew from Germantown through Tupelo, Miss., and Tuscaloosa, Selma and Andalusia, Ala. before finally arriving at Seagrove Beach, Fla. on Wednesday, March 26.
