Equity Starts With Detection
April is National Minority Health Month, a time to raise awareness about the critical need to improve health outcomes and reduce disparities in racial and ethnic minority communities. At West Cancer Foundation, we are emphasizing the urgent importance of cancer prevention and early detection, particularly for underserved populations. Recent findings reveal that at least 40% of adult cancers in the U.S. are tied to modifiable risk factors, while 5–10% are linked to inherited genetics.
Yet, despite advances in cancer care, persistent inequalities continue to impact outcomes. Alarmingly, cancer death rates for Native American and Black individuals are at least twice as high as those for White individuals for many preventable cancers. Cancer screening tests are designed to find cancer before symptoms appear—when treatment is more likely to be successful. That’s why West Cancer Foundation provides free cancer screenings to those who are uninsured or underinsured. Your donations help provide equitable cancer care to all.
Strutting With Purpose
West Cancer Foundation was proud to stand in solidarity and support at this month’s Sista Strut — an incredible event focused on raising awareness about breast cancer and its impact on women of color.
From every step taken to every story shared, we celebrated strength, resilience and the importance of early detection and education in our communities. Together, we are making a difference—one stride at a time. Thank you to everyone who joined us in the fight against breast cancer. Let’s keep walking, talking and supporting each other.

Think Pink, Think Power!
West Cancer Foundation was honored to be part of this year’s Think Pink Luncheon, a powerful gathering dedicated to breast cancer awareness, education and celebration of survivorship.
West Cancer Foundation President Leighanne Soden brought wisdom, heart and insight to the Fireside Chat discussion—sharing details on how West Cancer Foundation supports our community.
And a huge round of applause for our very own Keri Burnette, who graced the runway in the Survivor Fashion Show, radiating strength, resilience and beauty as she represents so many brave women impacted by breast cancer.
Together, we are amplifying voices, honoring fighters and continuing the mission to break barriers to cancer care in our community.

Big Impact One Slice at a Time
A huge THANK YOU to our amazing Young Professional Advisory Board for hosting another successful Give Back Night this month at Rotolo’s! Thanks to their efforts—and everyone who came out to support—they raised $250 for West Cancer Foundation!
DIY fundraisers like this prove that no amount is too small when it comes to making a difference in the fight against cancer. Every dollar raised helps us provide critical services for those who need it most when they need it most.
Feeling inspired? Host your own give back night, bake sale, workout class—the possibilities are endless, and the impact is real.
