Our Sponsors Make West Fight On a Reality!

Without our sponsors, West Fight On simply wouldn’t happen. These generous community partners have stepped up to provide financial gifts that cover the costs of putting on Memphis’ largest cancer survivor event and West Cancer Foundation’s largest fundraiser. Plus, our sponsors’ employees—and even some customers—pitch in to volunteer to make the day special for all who participate. Join us in thanking these incredible West Fight On sponsors by registering or donating today.

Calling All Volunteers Who Really Want to Make a Differenc

It takes a lot of extra hands to put on an event as large as West Fight On, and we’re looking for those who feel blessed and want to bless others with their time and talents. Volunteering at West Fight On—September 6 at Shelby Farms Park—is fun, easy and super rewarding knowing that you’re helping provide free cancer services like rides to and from appointments, cancer screenings, mental health counseling, post-surgery garments and more.

You can sign up as an individual or come as a group with your friends, family or co-workers to help those in need, honor those we’ve lost and celebrate those still fighting. Every little bit helps so please consider signing up today—you won’t believe how good you’ll feel after being part of this inspiring event.

Memphis Health+Fitness Features West Fight On Warrior

Two hip replacements and a torn rotator cuff won’t stop Mitchell Lansky from participating at this year’s West Fight On. The attorney with Lansky Law Firm, who volunteers on the West Fight On committee, is a runner and cyclist who, at 66, is still going strong. Read what inspires him in the August issue of Memphis Health & Fitness.

Also featured in this month’s issue is Katherine Campbell, also a West Fight On committee volunteer and a fierce runner who won second place in the 5K for females in her age group at last year’s West Fight On. With roots in Yugoslavia, now Croatia, one of her  personal goals is to run a full marathon in that country in under four hours, honoring both her heritage and dedication. Read Katherine’s story here.

Thank you Memphis Health & Fitness for supporting West Fight On and inspiring healthy and active lifestyles for all walks of life in our community.

Unlock the Power of Your Giving With a Donor-Advised Fund

West Cancer Foundation’s mission is fueled by the generosity of donors like you. One powerful way to make a lasting impact is through a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF).

A DAF is like a charitable savings account—you contribute cash, stocks or other assets, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants to nonprofits over time. Whether you use your DAF for a one-time gift or as part of a long-term giving strategy, your support helps ensure that those facing cancer receive the cancer support services they need—free of charge.

Read our latest blog to learn more about how a DAF can not only benefit you personally, but also benefit thousands in our community who need our support during the biggest fight of their life.

Get Ready With the West Fight On Training Toolkit

Whether you’re lacing up for your very first 5K or taking on the 60-mile cycling route, preparation is key—and we’ve got you covered. Our brand new West Fight On Training Toolkit is designed to help you train safely, confidently, and with the support of our community.

Inside, you’ll find:

  • Couch-to-5K running plan for beginners

  • Expert cycling safety tips including “First Big Ride” guidance
  • Local training classes & workshops like Smart Cycling and Flat Tire Fix

No matter your starting point, this toolkit will help you cross the finish line feeling strong.

Partnering for Community Health

At West Cancer Foundation, we love our partners, and we love it when the community comes together in the fight against cancer. That’s why we’re excited about the free prostate screening event we’re sponsoring with the Prostate Education Awareness Council of Memphis. The nonprofit was started by Kenneth and Terri Carpenter of Carpenter Primary Healthcare to help get the word out about prostate cancer and the importance of early detection.

The event is Saturday, September 13, from 9 am to 1 pm at St. Augustine Catholic Church Gymnasium, 1169 Kerr Avenue. It offers a free 7-point health screening, including prostate-specific antigen (PSA), testosterone, glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL and LDL tests, giving men—especially those at higher risk—an opportunity to detect potential issues early when treatment is most effective. Just a simple blood test can save a life. Collaborations like this extend West Cancer Foundation’s reach to increase prevention and education, which improves overall health outcomes in our community.

Our Mission

West Cancer Foundation’s mission is to break through barriers to cancer care and improve patient outcomes by providing accessible patient resources, early detection and education, and community-based research.
