Marian Levy
Associate Dean, University of Memphis School of Public Health
Marian Levy, DrPH, RD, FAND is Professor and Interim Dean of the School of Public Health at the University of Memphis. Dr. Levy received her doctorate in public health from UCLA, with a fellowship from the National Cancer Institute. A Registered Dietitian and Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, she has conducted numerous funded initiatives to reduce pediatric obesity, promote health equity, and provide environmental supports for health. Since 2005, she has served on NIH special emphasis review panels for the National Institute for Minority Health Disparities. She has served as Principal Investigator with the Mayor’s COVID-19 Joint Task force to assess compliance with facial mask policies; Site PI on CDC’s MASCUP! Study (Mask Adherence Surveillance at Colleges & Universities Project); and currently is Site PI on a CDC-funded award to the Shelby County Health Dept to improve COVID vaccine uptake in vulnerable populations.
She received a mayoral award for Race Relations and has been recognized with teaching awards from the University of Memphis (Alumni Association Distinguished Teaching Award) and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (2011 Outstanding Dietetic Educator). She served on the Board of Editors of the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics from 2013-2016.
Dr. Levy has held several leadership posts, including President of the Tennessee Public Health Association. She currently serves on the Governing Council of the American Public Health Association, representing the Tennessee Public Health Association. Additionally, Levy serves as a Site Visitor for the Council on Education for Public Health, the accrediting body for Schools of Public Health.
