It’s the Simple Things That Can Make a Big Difference
Nobody wants to hear the dreaded words: “You have cancer.” To add insult to injury, it can be devastating to learn that your cancer treatment will likely cause hair loss. The harsh reality of facing the public was tough to swallow for Kelley. Fortunately, her husband found out about West Cancer Foundation’s Sweet Wig Beauty Boutique, which provides free wigs and head coverings, and he made an appointment online that day. Read about Kelley’s positive experience in getting not one, but three, free wigs from the boutique, and help us spread the word to others who can benefit from this free service.
Hope on the Horizon for Cancer Treatment
Groundbreaking advancements in cancer diagnosis and treatment are revolutionizing patient care. The World Economic Forum recently published a list of 12 new breakthroughs in the fight against cancer, many of which promise new hope for cancer patients. Highlights include: development of personalized cancer vaccines using mRNA technology to train the immune system to recognize and fight cancer cells; a new blood test that can detect 18 types of cancer in early stages, making widespread screening more accessible; the introduction of a seven-minute injection for Atezolizumab, which can drastically reduce treatment time; and precision oncology that tailors treatments based on tumor genetics for better outcomes with fewer side effects. These innovations are shaping the future of cancer care. Read more about these breakthroughs.
