Jennifer Strain Named New Special Initiatives Manager for West Cancer Foundation

MEMPHIS, TENN., February 15, 2022 – West Cancer Foundation, whose mission is to advance the fight against cancer through research, education, patient support, and community outreach recently welcomed Jennifer Strain as Manager of Special Initiatives.

As the Manager of Special Initiatives, Jennifer’s responsibilities include directing West Cancer Foundation’s signature fundraising event, West Fight On, along with other special events and revenue initiatives for West Cancer Foundation. In her role, Jennifer will also help develop and implement fundraising and development strategies and manage all annual fundraising campaigns.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have Jennifer join our team at West Cancer Foundation,” said Leighanne Soden, West Cancer Foundation Executive Director. “Compassionate patient support and the overall health of our community are at the heart of our mission, and Jennifer’s passionate spirit makes her the perfect addition to our team.”

Jennifer has extensive nonprofit experience and currently serves as the Association of Fundraising Professionals Memphis Chapter Past- President and she earned the Certified Fundraising Executive designation in March 2017. A Memphis native, Jennifer earned an undergraduate in Social Work at University of Memphis and a Master of Business Administration at University of Phoenix Denver, Colorado campus.

“As a grateful patient of West Cancer Center, I aspire to use my cancer experience to instill hope in others and inspire the community to join West Cancer Foundation in the fight against cancer,” said Jennifer Strain, Manager of Special Initiatives at West Cancer Foundation. “Even if you are a patient with a good support system and financial means, navigating cancer treatment can feel overwhelming. No patient should have the added stress of unreliable transportation to make their appointments – or delay a mammogram because they can’t cover the copayment. I’m proud to be part of a team working to bridge these gaps”.

West Cancer Foundation is a Memphis-based nonprofit organization founded in 2020 to advance the fight against cancer through local research, education, patient support, and community outreach. The organization is committed to developing collaborative partnerships and innovative community initiatives that will improve health inequities, increase research, and leave a lasting impact by removing barriers to cancer care.

As part of their mission to advance the fight against cancer, West Cancer Foundation offers programs centered around cancer research and providing cancer patients with assistance and educational support. The programs include a breast screening program, Lymphedema Assistance Program, Online Wig Boutique, Patient Transportation, Post-Mastectomy Assistance, and Research and Fellowship Programs at University of Memphis and University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
