She to Sea Female Cycling Team to Ride 500+ Miles in Five Days to Raise Money and Support for Cancer Awareness

Ten women will depart Memphis, Tennessee on Saturday, March 19 to cycle to Seagrove Beach, Florida to raise money and awareness for cancer support

MEMPHIS, TENN., March 3, 2022 – Ten women from Memphis have created the She to Sea cycling team and are planning a five-day 500+ mile cycling trip from Memphis to Seagrove Beach, Florida to raise awareness and funds for cancer support and to help in the fight against cancer. The Sea to She cycling team will depart at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, March 19 from West Cancer Center located at 7945 Wolf River Boulevard in Germantown, Tennessee. Those that would like to support the effort or learn more may do so at the She to Sea fundraising website at this link: http://www.ShetoSea.org

“We are so excited to hit the road and so appreciative of those that have supported us so far including all of our sponsors, especially our presenting sponsor First Horizon Advisors-The Fountain Group,” said Leigh Ruston with She to Sea cycling team. “We could still use your support by cheering for us along the route and of course monetary donations to help fight cancer are always welcome at SeatoShe.org.”

The route will take the cycling team and their support crew from Germantown, Tennessee through Tupelo, Mississippi, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Selma, Alabama, and Andalusia, Alabama before finally arriving at Seagrove Beach, Florida on Wednesday, March 23.

Made up of ten seasoned female athletes from Memphis and the West Tennessee area, the She to Sea team has been training for this event for months, which has fostered a supportive team and close friendships as they prepare to challenge themselves physically and spiritually. The team members are committed to riding a little over 100 miles each day to honor the lives touched by cancer and to raise funds for West Cancer Foundation to support cancer patients and advance the fight against cancer.

The inspiration for the creation of the She to Sea team stemmed from a local men’s cycling team, Ride 2 Rosemary, who have done a similar charitable cycling event to promote cancer awareness and raise funds for the fight against cancer for the past 11 years. Many of the Ride 2 Rosemary gentlemen will show their support and follow the She to Sea ladies to the state line.

Sponsors for the inaugural She to Sea ride include First Horizon Advisors-The Fountain Group, Eisai, Caissa Public Strategy, Ride 2 Rosemary, Marx-Bernsdorf REALTORS, Loaded for Bear, Shelby Jewel, and Latting Speed Shop.
