West Cancer Foundation Welcomes Five New Members to its Board of Directors

West Cancer Foundation, whose mission is to advance the fight against cancer through research, education, patient support, and community outreach has welcomed five new members to its Board of Directors including Lori Guyton, Partner, On Brand Communications; Marian Levy, Associate Dean, University of Memphis School of Public Health; Jon Peters, President, AnovoRX; Kim Pitts, Co-Owner, ANK Forwarding, LLC; and Kevin Woods, Memphis Market President, BlueCross BlueShield. “We are absolutely thrilled to have these members join our board at West Cancer Foundation,” said Leighanne Soden, West Cancer Foundation Executive Director. “Each one of them brings a new level of expertise to the table and we are so grateful to have their experience, talents, and dedication as we work together to advance the fight against cancer.”

Lori Guyton is a partner with Memphis-based On Brand Communications and has more than 25 years of experience in public relations, marketing, brand strategy, sponsorships, and corporate communications. Having spent her entire career with various agencies both in and outside of Memphis, she has worked with stellar national and international brands across multiple sectors including financial, data/analytics, hospitality, consumer, and entertainment.

Marian Levy, DrPH, RD, FAND is a Professor and Interim Dean of the School of Public Health at the University of Memphis. Dr. Levy received her doctorate in public health from UCLA, with a fellowship from the National Cancer Institute.  A Registered Dietitian and Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, she has conducted numerous funded initiatives to reduce pediatric obesity, promote health equity, and provide environmental supports for health.

Jon Peters, born and raised in Memphis, is a founder of AnovoRx and has served as its President since its inception in 2013. Previously, he was with Accredo Health Group, Inc. where he served as Senior Vice President of Reimbursement and Technology.  After Accredo was acquired by Medco in 2005, Jon served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer.

Kimberly Swann Pitts is a graduate of University of Tennessee, with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.  She previously worked as a Flight Attendant for NorthWest Airlines and Manager of The World Club/NorthWest Airlines. She is a member of Junior League where she has held many leadership positions and is currently a member of Junior League Sustainer Club and Garden Club.  She has also served as a member of Le Bonheur Club holding many leadership positions as well as President of Le Bonheur Club.

Kevin Woods is the Memphis market president for BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, which serves more than 3.4 million members in the state and across the country. In this role, Woods builds and supports key relationships with west Tennessee businesses. He also serves as a vital link between the Memphis business community and BlueCross sales and service teams. Before joining BlueCross, he was executive director of Memphis’ Workforce Investment Network, which assists city and county organizations with recruiting new companies to Memphis and improving employment opportunities for area residents. Prior to that, he was director of career development and education services with New Horizons Computer Training Center in Memphis.

West Cancer Foundation is a Memphis-based nonprofit organization founded in 2020 to advance the fight against cancer through local research, education, patient support and community outreach. The organization is committed to developing collaborative partnerships and innovative community initiatives that will improve health inequities, increase research, and leave a lasting impact by removing barriers to cancer care.

As part of their mission to advance the fight against cancer, West Cancer Foundation offers programs centered around cancer research and providing cancer patients with assistance and educational support. The programs include Breast Screening Education and Navigation for the Underserved, Lymphedema Assistance Program, Online Wig Boutique, Patient Transportation, Post-Mastectomy Assistance, and Research and Fellowship Programs at University of Memphis and University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
