MEMPHIS, TENN., December 15, 2022 – West Cancer Foundation, whose mission is to advance the fight against cancer through research, education, patient support, and community outreach recently welcomed
Rachel Brown as Manager of Community Engagement and Outreach and Ariel Maclin as Executive Administrative Assistant.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have Ariel and Rachel join the West Cancer Foundation team,” said Leighanne Soden, West Cancer Foundation Executive Director. “Compassionate patient support and the overall health of our community are at the heart of our mission, and the passion and drive both of these ladies have will help to ensure we continue achieving the goals we set for ourselves and our community!”
As the Manager of Community Engagement and Outreach, Brown’s primary focus is driving our breast screening assistance program to increase the number of women we serve in the Mid-South area.
Brown brings over seven years of experience in direct community outreach and programming, most recently working with Shelby County Health Department COVID Response Unit where one of her many responsibilities was serving as a liaison between the health department and our Hispanic Community. She also has experience with Le Bonheur Community Outreach where she counseled young adults in the African American and Hispanic Communities about HIV and sexual health. Rachel received her B.S. in Health Education/Social Work from Middle Tennessee State University. She enjoys traveling, trying out the latest restaurants, along with spending time with family and friends.
As Executive Administrative Assistant Maclin will manage the Lymphedema Assistance Program and Post-Mastectomy Assistance Program in addition to providing administrative assistance to the West Cancer Foundation team.
Maclin is a Memphis Native and earned an undergraduate degree in Health Studies with a concentration in Health Sciences. During her last semester of college, Spring of 2021, she interned for West Cancer Foundation where her passion for healthcare in underserved communities grew.
While interning for West Cancer Foundation, Maclin contributed towards the launch of the Wig Boutique, Social Media Marketing and Engagement, in-kind donations for our annual West Fight On event and other grants that were beneficial to our foundation and it’s mission. In her free time, Maclin likes to journal and spend time with her loved ones.
