13th Annual West Fight On Scheduled for September 6th Walk, Run, Cycling Event to Raise Funds for West Cancer Foundation

MEMPHIS, TENN., May 20, 2025 –West Cancer Foundation, a Memphis-based nonprofit that provides free cancer services to those in need and funds research to improve cancer care, today announced that West Fight On, Memphis’ largest cancer survivor event, will be held Saturday, September 6, at Shelby Farms Park. Presented by First Horizon Foundation, West Fight On is a walk, run and cycling event that has raised more than $2.4 million to provide free cancer services benefiting more than 16,000 in our community.

Now in its 13th year, West Fight On features three different cycling routes — 20, 40 and 60 mile — a 5K run/walk, and a one-mile tribute walk. People can also register to cheer on runners and cyclists in the event’s Celebration Village, and those who can’t attend in person can register as Spirit Runners to honor a loved one. This year’s event will include the second annual Kid’s Bike Parade, a Kids Zone with activities for families, and a Survivor Ceremony with a special moment of silence honoring those who have been lost to cancer, followed by a bagpiper serenade.

“West Fight On is our largest fundraising event and continues to grow each year, attracting not only runners, walkers and cyclists, but also families and those who simply want to honor loved ones touched by cancer,” said Leighanne Soden, West Cancer Foundation President. “It’s a heartwarming event that brings our community together to celebrate survivors, honor those we’ve lost to cancer and raise much needed funds so that we can provide free cancer services for those who need it most.”

In addition to First Horizon Foundation, the event is sponsored by the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, West Cancer Center & Research Institute, Higginbotham, Men Fighting Ovarian Cancer and Caris Life Sciences.

West Cancer Foundation’s mission is to break through barriers to cancer care and improve patient outcomes by providing accessible patient resources, early detection and education, and research to improve health inequities. The nonprofit organization provides free cancer services to those in need including cancer screenings, transportation to and from treatment appointments, lymphedema garments, and post-mastectomy prostheses, garments and wigs.
